Frequently asked questions

How do I play?

Look at a trooper and pinch your thumb and index finger together. Paint flies from your hand to whatever you're looking at.

Splat troopers before they land. Every trooper that lands and every missed shot paints your room a little more, and when the room is 100% painted the round is over. Hits in a row build a score multiplier up to ×4.

Paint isn't landing on my walls

Splash Fall needs access to your surroundings to find your walls, floor, and ceiling.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security, then Surroundings.
  3. Turn on Splash Fall, then start a new round.

Without it the game still works, but paint lands on an invisible stand-in room instead of your real one. Or switch the menu from Your Room to Immersive and play in a virtual room, which doesn't need any of this.

Paint looks like it's floating, or misses the wall

Before each round, Splash Fall scans your room and shows it as a glowing mesh. Look slowly around the walls and up at the ceiling until they're covered. Bright, even lighting helps, and so does a clear view of the walls.

If you move to a different room, start a new round so the game can scan it.

Do I need to stand up or move around?

No. Troopers only come from in front of you, so you can play seated or standing without turning around. Just leave a little open space in front of you.

How do I pause?

Tap the pause button on the status panel just below your view. From there you can resume, restart, change the volume, or quit to the menu.

What do the power-ups do?

Clear Coat washes nearby paint off your walls and lowers the meter. Shield makes the next bit of paint bead right off. Slow-Mo slows everything down except your shots. Double Points doubles your score for a while.

Weapons: Burst Blaster fires three shots per pinch. Guided Missile locks every trooper near your target and splits to hit them all. Wave Gun sends out a ring that pops everything in its path without making a mess. Nova Launcher lobs orbs that clear everything where they burst. Chain Zapper shots arc on to nearby troopers.

Shoot a pickup out of the air to collect it. Weapons last longer at higher levels, and a small 3-2-1 countdown appears before one runs out. The Legend on the menu shows them all.

Why did my round end?

In Arcade, the round ends when your room is 100% painted. A campaign level ends sooner, at the paint limit on its briefing card, and Timed and Frenzy also end when time runs out. Zen never ends.

Missed shots add a little paint, troopers that land add more, and hitting a Splash Bomb makes a big mess. Pop Clear Coat bubbles to wash some of it away.

Where are my scores saved?

Your bests and campaign stars are saved on your Apple Vision Pro, and deleting the app deletes them.

If you're signed in to Game Center, your scores also go on its leaderboards, and you earn achievements. The trophy button at the top of the menu opens them.

Does Splash Fall collect my data?

No. Your room scan, head position, and hand input are used on your device while you play, and never saved or sent anywhere. Your scores and achievements go to Apple's Game Center only if you're signed in to it. The privacy policy has the details.
